WAKO Pro Fight Night 2024
This weekend saw 13 hotly contested match ups in the Kickboxing Ireland sanctioned WAKO Pro Fight Night in Clontarf.
Boasting both a World Full Contact Title fight and a European K1 Title fight the night was set to be a cracker and it lived up to the expectation! There was a vast array of skill on display in K1, Low Kick and Full Contact divisions across different weights and ages.
Kickboxing Ireland President, Jon Mackey, said:
“Now that the dust has settled on what was a very busy weekend for a number of our top athletes, well done to you all, we can reflect on what was a very successful WAKO Pro event held in our capital city of Dublin. Firstly, congratulations to Gary McDonnell who after 12 blistering rounds became Ireland’s latest WAKO Pro world champion in full contact. Gary now joins a small but elite group of KBI athletes who have achieved this legendary status. I would also like to extend a very special congratulations to Damian Darker who retained his WAKO Pro European belt in K1 while also being the main promoter for this fantastic show- very well done Damian.
Thank you to both T. Henry Macpherson and Lazar Klikovac and their coaches for coming to Ireland, preparing the way they did and for fighting their hearts out. We were honoured to have you in our country and to share the WAKO Pro stage with you and your coaching teams.
Shows like this are nothing without the athletes who fill the card and showcase their excellent skills for the crowd. Thank you – to you all. Thank you also to all the clubs and the professional coaches that worked tirelessly on the night to support their athletes. There was a great vibe all night.
Thanks to all the officials who did an amazing job at keeping the athletes safe. We can’t do what we do without you. Last and by no means least thank you to Roy Baker the event co-promoter without whom none of this would be possible.
